T'was a time and place when soulful airs and merry jigs were heard alongside the latest compositions by Purcell, Corelli and Vivaldi. Tap your feet on a journey through the driving traditional strathspeys of Cape Breton and intriguing pipe tunes of the border country in this delightful combination of classical and folk music. ABOUT THE MUSICIANS Chris Norman is described as “A flute superstar…the musicianship just came wailing out” (Toronto Globe & Mail) and David Greenberg has been praised as both "one of the most impassioned folk-fiddlers you'll ever hear" (Winnipeg Free Press) and "the best baroque violin soloist in Canada, if not North America" (Halifax Mail-Star). Evergreen Ensemble sees Baroque violinist Shane Lestideau (recently returned to Australia after 10 years studying and performing in Brittany, France) hand-selecting from Australia’s finest musicians those who meet at the heart of traditional/baroque cross-over music. This line-up is Shane Lestideau and Ben Dollman (Australian Brandenburg Orchestra) on violin, Anna Webb (Quartz) on viola, Sam Cohen (Ludovico’s Band) on theorbo and Miranda Hill (Fine Fine Small Mountain) on double bass. Lead by Norman and Greenberg, these players breathe the very essence of great music-making then, now and always; immediate, direct, in-the-moment, risky and above-all, fun.
